Event: Shelton Historic Walk

AVA Sanction#/Distance/Rating: 125679 - 2024 / Y2625 - 10K (rated 2C with 2A option) with 5K and 6K routes (both rated 1A)

Description: The 10K route goes through the north end of town (uptown) past the high school and the college, then down a pretty steep hill into downtown Shelton. The walk continues through neighborhoods and along main roads of downtown Shelton with historic landmarks and the Mason County Historical Museum. The walk then goes through a beautiful wooded creek area and up a different hill through neighborhoods and businesses back to the start point. There is an alternate fully-paved version of the 10K walk.

For the 5K walk, register and then drive to the start point at the library in downtown Shelton. The 5K route is rated 1A and goes through neighborhoods and along main roads of downtown Shelton with historic landmarks included.

The 6K walk is also a remote start and is rated 1A. The 6K walk starts at Sanderson field and goes through the airport and industrial park and past many of the airport buildings.

Start/Finish Times: Daily - Dawn to Dusk.

Accessibility/Amenities: Difficult for strollers and wheelchairs. Pets are allowed. Restrooms are at the start point and in various locations en route.

Registration: This event has both an Online Start Box (OSB) and a Physical Start Box (PSB). You may register using either of these, but please complete the walk using the same method used to register to receive proper credit.

To register using the PSB, follow the directions below:

Start/End Location: Fred Meyer, 301 E Wallace Kneeland Blvd, Shelton

Driving Directions: From Hwy 101 N: Take the Wallace Kneeland exit and turn right onto Wallace Kneeland. At the second light, turn right into the Fred Meyer parking lot. From Hwy 101 S: Take the Wallace Kneeland exit and follow the curve around until it becomes Wallace Kneeland. At the second light, turn right into the Fred Meyer parking lot. Ask for the walk box at the customer service counter.
