Description: The Evergreen State College is the first public four-year college created in Washington in the 20th century. The first day of classes was on October 4, 1971 with 1178 students. The campus contains a large tract of undeveloped land along the Puget Sound waterfront, much of it being second growth evergreen forest, which is of use to the students and faculty of the campus as a research and natural area. The entire campus comprises about 1008 acres, much of it forested land. This total includes 27 acres of southern Puget Sound tidelands. In addition to the main campus, there is also an organic farm.

Walk through the campus on sidewalks and maintained paths with some stairs. The 10K walk includes the campus, the organic farm, a lengthy walk through the woods and down the hill to Eld Inlet (no beach access, but nice views) and up a steep hill (on a paved road) back to the campus, whence the 2C rating. The 7K walk includes the campus, the organic farm and surrounding woods, but no hills of any consequence.

After registering, exit the parking lot to the north onto Cooper Point Road SE, turn left immediately onto Black Lake Blvd. SE, then turn right to get back onto US 101 heading west, then take the first exit onto Evergreen Parkway. Drive several miles north on Evergreen Parkway, eventually passing the College entrance sign. Continue to a roundabout, and turn left into the college. There is a gatehouse outside the parking lot, which may or may not be staffed. If it is, purchase a parking pass and continue on into the parking lot. If it is not staffed, drive on into the parking lot and look for machines which dispense parking passes (credit cards are accepted). In either case, a parking pass is required, as parking is enforced, possibly 24/7. You should allow 3 hours to do the walk when purchasing a parking pass from the machine.
