Description: Historic Port Gamble offers a view of an authentic Pacific Northwestern lumber mill town and port. The walk takes you through this small village, where you may enjoy many shops and a fine museum. A large segment of the walk includes a portion of the former tree farm. Port Gamble is the site of the historic Fort Malikoff. Ask cashier for walkbox location. Register and drive to start point. Restrooms at registration but not at start point.
Start/End Location: Port Gamble General Store and Cafe at 32400 Rainier Ave NE, Port Gamble, WA.
Driving Directions: From the east, take the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry, then follow SR104 through Kingston. In about three miles, at the second stop light, by the TEXACO Station, stay on SR104 as it turns RIGHT toward Port Gamble and the Hood Canal Bridge. Near Port Gamble, as SR104 curves sharply to the left, go STRAIGHT into the town. The Port Gamble General Store and Cafe is on the right.
From the south, take SR3 in the direction of the HOOD CANAL BRIDGE; do NOT turn left onto the Bridge, but continue STRAIGHT on SR3 as it becomes SR104 heading east toward Port Gamble. When SR104 curves sharply to the right, turn LEFT into the town. Port Gamble General Store is on the right.
From the Olympic Peninsula, take US 101 to where it intersects with SR104 and follow SR104 over the HOOD CANAL BRIDGE. At the stop light turn LEFT, staying on SR104. Continue on SR104 toward Port Gamble. When SR104 curves sharply to the right, turn LEFT into the town. Port Gamble General Store is on the right.
Start/Finish Times: Daily - 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Christmas and New Years Day.
Accessability/Amenities: Medium difficulty for strollers, not possible for wheelchairs. Pets are allowed. Restrooms are at the registration point and may also be found in various locations en route.
